- Taped curtain headings
- Measuring and estimating fabric requirements
- Locked in linings and mitred corners
Students will make a sample, lined curtain with hand finished hem and sides, and machined heading tape to take away along with handouts.

Learn more advanced techniques of curtain making to add to your basic skills: - Different types of interlining and how to apply them - Hand made headings with buckram - triple pleats and goblets - Finishing touches for hand made headings You will make a sample lined and interlined curtain with a hand sewn heading to take away, along with handouts.

Blinds add a new dimension to your window furnishings and Roman blinds can be created in a range of different styles. The following will be covered:
Measuring and estimating fabric requirements
Headrail systems
Rings, rods, tapes, weight bars
Designing and creating shaped bottom edges
Students will make a sample, lined, Roman blind using some of the techniques learned.

Topics covered include how to run a business in a professional manner, setting your price, how to measure and record the data, estimating and tips on how to work in an efficient manner to make the most of your time. Other subjects will also be covered included marketing, setting up trade accounts and laying out your workroom.

‘Banana’ shaped tiebacks and piped cushions will be shown, then it will be your choice as to which one you make up as a sample. Piping, zips and fabric pattern placement will all be shown.

Making loose covers can be a daunting prospect. Come and learn where to start, as well as the following topics:
- Designing a cover
- Measuring up and fabric requirements
- Cutting and pin-fitting
- Making and applying piping
- Inserting zips and other closures
- Skirts and bottom edges.
Then make a sample cover on half a chair, before embarking on the real thing!
