Roman Blinds - Saturday, 4 September 2010


Blinds add a new dimension to your window furnishings and Roman blinds can be created in a range of different styles. The following will be covered:
Measuring and estimating fabric requirements
Headrail systems
Rings, rods, tapes, weight bars
Designing and creating shaped bottom edges
Students will make a sample, lined, Roman blind using some of the techniques learned.

For those with little or no experience of curtain making, as well as those who want to improve on their skills and learn the 'proper' techniques. The following topics are covered:
- Tracks and poles
- Taped curtain headings
- Measuring and estimating fabric requirements
- Locked in linings and mitred corners
Students will make a sample, lined curtain with hand finished hem and sides, and machined heading tape to take away along with handouts.

You will make a sample lined and interlined curtain with a hand sewn heading to take away, along with handouts.

Then make a sample cover on half a chair, before embarking on the real thing!
