100% handloom silk produces a beautiful & luxurious effect that cannot be achieved by machine woven fabrics. Special handspun silk yarns are used to create unevenness, slub and shading variations, which gives this fabric its beauty and are not considered to be faults. Because these silk yarns are 100% natural, colour and texture variations can occur between two rolls of the same colour and in fact within one single roll.
It is internationally accepted that due to the dyes used in these products they cannot be guaranteed against fading either from direct or indirect light. If being used in curtains it is highly recommended that both a good quality lining and interlining are used. It is also prudent to reduce the leading edge.
A further point to be aware of is that weaving is not consistent and often pin holes and larger gaps are evident when the fabric is held up to the light.
