Squire Valance

This valance has the simplicity of only two swag pleats, but their deep angles make the valance look amply full. The unique shape at the bottom of the swags give it interest and elegance. Swag widths extend 14" to 18". Not including trim, the swag depth is 22" at the center and quickly dips up to 18 1/2" at either side of the horn. The horn is 13 1/2" at the shortest point. Use a simple return or a choice between two jabots. One jabot (tail) is very thin and hangs 39 1/2" deep. The other jabot is called the Squire jabot. It is fuller and hangs 35" deep. It is not recommended you alter any of the pattern pieces.
